The Geneticker federation · two apps, one genome

Read your genome. Research the world's. Move neither.

Geneticker is a local-compute, federated genomics platform. Cipher reads your DNA entirely on your own device. Decipher lets researchers query the whole pool — and only aggregate answers ever leave a device. The genome itself never moves.

Pick the side of the genome you're on

One is for the person whose DNA it is. One is for the scientist who wants to learn from it. They meet in the middle, without the genome ever changing hands.

Cipher
For individuals
Your genome, read locally.

Load a VCF and Cipher reads it entirely in your browser — health, trait and ancestry insights, computed on your device. Then you choose what leaves it: nothing, anonymous markers, an encrypted genome, or a full donation.

  • travel_exploreLocal analysis. Conditions by severity, ancestry and traits — parsed on-device, never uploaded.
  • tuneShare by tier, not blind. Every marker carries a sensitivity tier (0–7). Share a panel, or keep it all.
  • lockEncrypted-genome storage. The encrypted-genome tier is sealed in-browser with a key we never receive; anonymous markers and donations are stored under narrower, clearly-labelled terms.
  • blur_onDecoys & on-device research. Deploy plausible-deniable decoys and answer researchers' queries locally.

Decipher
For researchers
Federated genomics, without moving a genome.

Author a query once; it runs on every consenting participant's device in Cipher and returns only the aggregate you asked for. Browse donated genomes, and read any of them base-by-base in the DNA Canvas.

  • scienceMedical-grade query studio. A live inspector models cohort reach, statistical power and re-identification risk as you build.
  • fact_checkFive query kinds, one anonymity floor. Against a 254,777-variant index — every cohort guarded by a k=20 floor.
  • view_in_arDNA Canvas. Open any public genome and read it base-by-base with a clinical info pane.
  • data_objectML-ready export. Variant matrices, one-hot sequences, k-mer and dosage files, straight out of the browser.

How it works

The genome never moves

Cipher and Decipher are two ends of one loop. Data is computed where it lives; only consented aggregates travel.

01 enhanced_encryption

Read it locally

You load your VCF in Cipher. It's parsed on your device — insights are computed locally, and your genome is encrypted with a key only you hold.

Cipher · you
02 query_stats

Ask, don't collect

A researcher authors a federated query in Decipher — a specific aggregate over specific markers, with a consent ceiling and a k=20 anonymity floor.

03 hub

Only the answer moves

Each consenting device answers on its own. Cipher shows you exactly what would be sent — then only the aggregate returns. Never the genome.

the federation
One privacy architecture

Built so your genome can't betray you

Both apps sit on the same foundations — and the same radical honesty about what genetic data exposes, including your blood relatives.

lock

Client-side AES-256-GCM

Encryption happens in your browser via Web Crypto. For the encrypted-genome tier your key is never sent to us and we hold only ciphertext. Shared markers and donations are stored under their own, clearly-stated terms.

hub

Content-addressed IPFS

Genomes are pinned to IPFS by their cryptographic hash via Pinata — portable and content-addressed, not locked to a single cloud vendor.

layers

Consent tiers 0–7

Every marker carries a sensitivity tier — from technical/QC (0) to identity (7). You share by tier, and a query can never exceed its consent ceiling.

groups

k = 20 anonymity floor

Federated cohorts modelled below 20 respondents trip a re-identification warning before anything is shared. Small groups don't get answered blindly.

blur_on

Plausible-deniable decoys

Decoys keep your ancestry & physical markers but shuffle the internal ones, encrypted and pinned alongside the real genome to muddy the trail.

verified_user

Radically honest

Readings are informational, not a diagnosis. An aggregate is not automatically anonymous. A public genome is public forever. We say so, on every screen.

Two apps. One genome that never moves.

Read yours in Cipher. Query the pool in Decipher. Same account across both — same key, same passkey.
